It’s the most wonderful time of the year! With Christmas a week away, we thought we’d share some things that we’re loving this holiday season

Song:

Audrey:

I listen to Christmas music pretty much nonstop from the Friday before Thanksgiving until Christmas (overkill? Oh well). It reminds me of the holidays growing up, and it just instantly puts me in a better mood. I prefer the classics (Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole, etc.) and it’s very hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to it would probably have to be Home For The Holidays by Perry Como. I always loved this song, but since this is my first Christmas since I’ve been away at college, the words mean so much more to me. It’s great to be home :)

Ella:

How can I pick just ONE favorite Christmas song?!? Like Audrey, I love me some classics. After much deliberation I chose Baby, It’s Cold Outside by Doris Day & Bing Crosby. There are various versions but this one is my favorite. It’s just sooo fun to sing along with and it’s the only Christmas song I can listen to all year round!

Scent:

Audrey:

As I mentioned in my November Favorites, I recently picked up some holiday candles from B&BW. I fell in love with the White Barn Nutmeg & Spice scent! It’s a wonderful holiday scent without being overwhelming. It’s a very nutty and warm scent (although my sister says it smells more like eggnog. Give it a whiff and you be the judge), and I could definitely see myself burning it every winter.

During the Holiday season my family is constantly baking.Whether it’s a cake, cookies, or just some chocolate covered pretzels, my mom and I are constantly in the kitchen whipping up some treats. My house starts to smell like a bakery and it’s quite lovely.

Movie:

Audrey:

Christmas movies are the BEST! There’s something about these movies that allows you to watch every year and never get tired of them. Perhaps it’s the element of miracles that’s present in all of them, or just the joy of all the decorations and festivities, but I just can’t get enough of them. Again, it’s super difficult to pick just one favorite but I think it’d have to be the original Miracle on 34th Street. It’s such a classic and I love the goosebump-inducing ending. Ahh the magic of Christmas

Ella:

I look forward to watching Christmas movies all year round. There is nothing like snuggling up with a blanket and having a Christmas movie marathon. I think one of the main reasons people like Christmas movies so much is because it reminds them of their childhood and how glorious Christmas is for a child. Though the list of great Christmas movies is quite long, I opted for my childhood favorite: The Santa Clause. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen this movie but I can never get enough. Every time I watch this movie I feel 10 years old again and it’s amazing!

Food/Beverage:

Audrey:

EGGNOG! Nothing else says Christmas quite like a nice glass of eggnog with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top. I know that it’s not for everyone, and I myself definitely could not stomach it year-round, but it’s a nice treat once a year.

Ella:

This may sound cliché but I have to say hot cocoa because it’s the only time of the year that I drink it. It’s only during Christmas that a nice cup of hot cocoa with some whipped cream and marshmallows sounds divine.

Place:

Audrey:

My living room. Haha that sounds so bizarre, but I adore my living room all decked out for the holidays. I’ve lived in the same house all my life, so Christmas mornings have always been in the same place. I have amazing childhood memories of opening my gifts under the tree. And when the tree is the only light in the room. Oh man I could go on forever

I hastily took a cellphone pic of my tree because I didn't feel like digging for pictures from past years :)

I hastily took a cellphone pic of my tree because I didn’t feel like digging for pictures from past years. Totally doesn’t do it justice

Ella:

I though about this one for a while…though it sounds cheesy, it’s not where you are during Christmas but it’s who you’re with. Christmas is a time for family and as long as my family is gathered together is doesn’t matter where we are (as long as there is food and some decorations haha)

Trend:

Audrey:

Ugly Christmas sweaters! I’ve been dying to get my hands on one of these. I think they’re so fun. Of course they’re ridiculous and you can only pull ’em off once a year, but that’s the fun. I would love to go to an ugly Christmas sweater party.

Ella:

Regular Christmas Sweaters! Haha. I’ve always wanted a sweater with reindeer and snowflakes on it. There just so cool and festive. And Audrey, I would love to accompany you to an Ugly Christmas sweater party :)

Pretty much any photo that captures the thrill of Christmas as a child melts my heart. This particular one shows two young girls asleep by the tree, clearly trying to wait up for Santa. So precious!

Ella:

Being in NY during Christmas is on my bucket list. I’m dying to see the Rockefeller Christmas tree and ice-skate next to it. Mere pictures of  the Rockefeller center are incredible so I can’t imagine how incredible it will be to see it in person.

Decoration:

Audrey:

I love any and all Christmas decorations. The lights, the wreaths, the lawn displays, but I think the one decoration that really screams Christmas to me is the tree. Every year my family puts on the movie White Christmas and decorates the tree together. It’s such fun decorating it, and it brings an awesome energy into the house.  I personally like trees with lots of different colored ornaments, many of which hold sentimental value, white lights, and thin tinsel. There are all types of beautiful trees  (white, silver, and blue ones) but I prefer the classic look. Collecting ornaments and decorating the tree together is a tradition I see passing on to my own kids and I cant wait.

Ella:

My family puts up Christmas decorations pretty early so we can get in the Christmas spirit as soon as possible. During the first week of December, we set aside a day of decorations. It’s a team effort to get down the tree from the attic along with all the lights and ornaments. We jam out to Christmas music and have a blast decorating our house. My siblings and I also make sure to put lights and some Christmas touches in our room. It’s one of my favorite things to do…ever. But if I had to pick my favorite decoration it would be Christmas lights. They just turn everything and anything into magic.
